Ivy Weng, program coordinator at the UT Physicians Multispecialty – International District clinic, has been named the 2021 Employee of the Year for her outstanding commitment to our patients and her colleagues.
In the running for this prestigious honor were the 2021 Employee of the Month winners. While each of these employees exhibited behavior considered admirable and dedicated, Weng was awarded during the annual Employee of the Year luncheon on Monday, Feb. 28.
Weng’s dedication to the health and happiness of our patients was noticeable during the pandemic. Her desire to remain connected to the community resulted in fun and educational videos featured online and numerous virtual no-cost wellness classes. Additionally, her bright personality helped uplift her co-workers during a challenging time.
“Ivy is one of the kindest and sweetest people I’ve had the pleasure of knowing,” shared Adrienne D. Finley, MPH, practice manager. “When I first began working at the International District clinic, she made sure I was included in everything and made me feel so welcome.”
Weng, visibly shocked upon learning of her big win, became emotional and choked up during the announcement.
“I never in a million years would have thought I was the winner today,” said Weng. “Every Employee of the Month winner here today is so special.”
A new U.S. citizen, Weng plans to share the news with her parents who live in Taiwan.
“I came to the U.S. on my own and I know this news will make them so happy and proud,” she said. “I think they’ll realize that I’m doing good work here and I’m happy.”
