Fernando Gomez-Rivera, MD, is an ENT (ear, nose and throat) specialist who sees patients of all ages for a wide range of issues affecting the head and neck, including hearing, balance, nose, sinus, ear, sleep, voice and more. His clinical interests include all aspects of general otolaryngology, including thyroid and parathyroid disorders, salivary gland diseases, laryngeal disorders, ear infections, and tonsil and adenoid diseases as well as conditions of the nose and paranasal sinuses. Dr. Gomez-Rivera, in conjunction with The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) Audiology, evaluates hearing loss, dizziness, tinnitus and related conditions. He also has a special interest in procedures for sleep apnea.
Dr. Gomez-Rivera is an assistant professor in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. He received his medical degree from Universidad La Salle in Mexico City, and then Dr. Fernando Gomez-Rivera completed his residency in General Surgery in Mexico. He pursued fellowships in Surgical Oncology in Birmingham, Alabama and Head and Neck Surgery at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Dr. Fernando Gomez-Rivera did his surgery internship and otorhinolaryngology residency at UTHealth. Before returning to Houston, he was a staff physician at Sentara Southern Virginia Ear, Nose and Throat.
When not seeing patients, Dr. Gomez-Rivera enjoys spending time with his children.
