Dr. Gene Kim is a Clinical Assistant Professor for the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Science at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth).
Board certified in ophthalmology, Dr. Kim’s sub-specialty is cornea and external disease and refractive surgery. In practice since 2011, he treats patients three years and older and speaks Korean.
Dr. Kim believes that many times patients are lost in medical jargon and are merely given instructions on what to do without proper knowledge of their actual issue. He believes in fully explaining medical conditions, helping patients to understand what is going on, and encouraging teamwork throughout treatment, an approach that improves patient outcomes. He also places a value on spending time with patients during their visits and taking the time to listen to all their needs.
