John Cook, NP, PMHNP, MSN, is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner. He received a bachelor of arts in psychology from Rice University, a bachelor of science in nursing from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), and a master of science in nursing from Vanderbilt University. Afterwards, he received post-graduate certificates in nursing education and psychiatric mental health nursing from UTHealth.
Mr. Cook is experienced in the assessment and management of psychiatric illnesses using both medication and psychotherapy. As an academician, he is a clinical instructor of psychiatric nursing with teaching experience at Veterans Affairs, UTHealth Harris County Psychiatric Center, West Oaks Hospital, Ben Taub Hospital, and the NeuroPsychiatric Center.
Mr. Cook has previously worked as a psychiatric nurse at the Menninger Clinic and at the Memorial Hermann Prevention and Recovery Center. He speaks at conferences on mental health topics and advocates for improving mental health in the community.
