Martina Ayad, MD, is a maternal-fetal medicine physician specializing in high-risk pregnancy. Her collaborative approach to care offers a transparent and team-based relationship with her patients and their primary obstetrician for nonroutine health issues.
Dr. Ayad is board certified in both obstetrics and gynecology, and maternal-fetal medicine. She provides advanced care for patients who may have multiple complications, including hypertensive disorders, multiple gestation, cancer, diabetes, autoimmune disorders, cervical insufficiency and preterm labor. She is dedicated to patient education and empowerment, and looks forward to providing state-of-the-art perinatal care within her community.
Dr. Ayad moved to Houston at age 15 and has made it her forever home. She completed her undergraduate degree in chemistry and philosophy at the University of St. Thomas. She went on to earn her medical degree at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). Afterwards, she completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB Health). Dr Ayad’s compassion for women with complex pregnancies, ultrasound screening, genetic screening and diagnosis led her to pursue a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at UTMB Health where she earned multiple Outstanding Fellow and Resident Teaching awards. Upon completion of her fellowship, Dr. Ayad decided to stay in the Houston area to continue her practice.
Dr. Ayad is an assistant professor at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth. She serves as the chairperson for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is also the medical director for labor and delivery at Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital.
When not seeing patients, she enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with her husband, Peter, and their two children, Abigail and Paul.
