Dr. Nneka Ifejika is a board certified Brain Injury Medicine specialist and Associate Professor in the Departments of Neurology and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). Dr. Ifejika also serves as the Director of Neurorehabilitation for the University of Texas Stroke Team.
Dr. Ifejika sees patients of all ages in the inpatient and outpatient setting. She has a passion for providing exemplary care to those affected by stroke, multiple sclerosis, concussion, traumatic brain injury and related disabilities. Her close interactions with those affected by neurologic disease provide the opportunity to develop innovative therapeutic strategies. In addition, Dr. Ifejika is a NIH funded early stage research investigator with a considerable interest in stroke outcomes and minority health disparities.
Dr. Ifejika has a strong passion for patient advocacy, healthcare and disability reform. She is an active member of the Health Policy and Legislation Committee of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R), speaking on behalf of patients and families affected by cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease. Dr. Ifejika’s work has been recognized by the United States Congress, and she has participated in Roundtable Discussions with the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
