Constipation in Children
Constipation is a common gastrointestinal problem in children. The condition is characterized by infrequent bowel movements or difficulty passing stool. While it can occur at any age, it occurs often during early childhood and will vary based on age, dietary factors, fluid intake, physical activity, and other underlying medical conditions. Take note of your child’s regular potty routine and watch for changes.

Treatment of Constipation
In most cases, constipation can be treated with simple lifestyle changes, physical activity, dietary adjustments, or stool softeners. If there are no improvements or your child’s constipation is severe, speak with your pediatrician or family medicine physician. It’s vital to prevent constipation from becoming a chronic issue and to ensure there aren’t any underlying issues causing constipation.
