It was a joyful celebration in the atrium of the new TMC 3 Helix Park building when Jacob Musule, LVN, was named the 2024 UT Physicians Employee of the Year.
“Just wow!” said Musule, a licensed vocational nurse with the pediatrics gastroenterology clinic at UT Physicians Pediatric Multispecialty – Texas Medical Center. “Everyone else here is so deserving. I am in shock. I know of some of the other nominees and how devoted they are. My fellow nominees are amazing and outstanding.”
Holding back tears, his shock was amplified as his wife and two teenage sons walked in from across the room to surprise him on stage.
“I can’t believe this is happening. I feel so honored,” said Musule. “I love helping children and their families every day. I can’t imagine doing anything else.”
Musule was previously honored as the February 2024 Employee of the Month for his role at the gastroenterology clinic, where he guides some of our most vulnerable patients and their families through difficult diagnoses. He provides comfort and calm, instills confidence, and is a constant beacon of hope. When not face-to-face with patients, he’s on the phone and is known for spending hours diligently working to ensure patients receive coverage for medicine and care.
“I worked with Jacob during my residency, and I learned so much from him,” said LaTanya J. Love, MD, interim president of UTHealth Houston and interim chief executive officer of UT Physicians. “Getting to be part of this celebration to honor him is a wonderful full circle moment.”
The annual luncheon is a special celebration of the Employee of the Month program, recognizing 12 honorees for their outstanding contributions throughout the year and announcing the Employee of the Year.
“These employees are the best of the best,” said Andrew Casas, executive vice president of UTHealth Houston and chief operating officer of UT Physicians. “It’s important for us to recognize employees, and this program gives our staff, physicians, and patients the opportunity to point out those co-workers who go above and beyond. We couldn’t do it without them.”
