Annie Chen, MD, is a urologist, fellowship-trained urogynecologist, and reconstructive pelvic surgeon who specializes in female and male voiding dysfunction and pelvic floor disorders. She has expertise in all minimally invasive pelvic surgery approaches, including robotic, laparoscopic, and vaginal surgery. She also has expertise in all minimally invasive treatments that improve urination in women and men while preserving sexual function.
Chen has received many awards and grants, including for her thesis on better ways to inject botulinum toxin into the bladder for patients who suffer from neurogenic conditions and severe overactive bladder. She has contributed to the American Urological Association guideline updates for microhematuria, or microscopic traces of blood in the urine, and has authored many peer-reviewed publications and chapters on urinary incontinence, sacral neuromodulation, and pelvic prolapse.
Chen is currently serving as the associate program director of the urology residency program at UTHealth Houston and assistant professor of urology at the UTHealth Houston McGovern Medical School. She lives in Houston with her husband, daughter, and dog.
