Joan S. Purcell, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician providing comprehensive care for teens. She has practiced medicine since 1995. She treats a variety of conditions, including menstrual problems, mood and eating disorders, family planning, and nonoperative sports injuries. She works with patients and their families to develop, set, and achieve health goals in a supportive environment. She credits her success to focusing on patient wellness combined with her sense of humor and transparency. Her past experience as a collegiate basketball player, her previous position as team physician for youth rugby, and her work assisting high school and college football teams give her a unique advantage when treating athletes.
Outside of work, Purcell enjoys hiking, cycling, walking her dogs, kayaking, tennis, gardening, swimming, and watching her three sons and husband play rugby and football.
