Juan A. Abreu, MD, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained cardiothoracic surgeon focused on providing exceptional care for all his patients.
Abreu’s clinical interests include minimally invasive cardiac surgery, structural heart disease, arrhythmia surgery, surgical education, high-risk cardiac surgery, hybrid coronary artery revascularization, and aortic surgery.
He’s an assistant professor in the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.
Abreu earned his medical degree from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra in the Dominican Republic. He completed his general surgery internship and residency at Hofstra School of Medicine Northwell Health Staten Island University Hospital in New York City, followed by a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He is double board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
