Kelli V. Burroughs, MD, FACOG, is an award-winning board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist with over 20 years of experience in women’s health, she is particularly passionate about supporting women through the transition of perimenopause and menopause. Burroughs creates tailored treatment plans that may include lifestyle modifications, nutritional supplements, and advanced medical therapies such as hormone replacement. She also has extensive expertise in family planning, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), infertility, heavy menstrual cycles, and fibroid management. She’s dedicated to delivering compassionate, personalized care through every stage of life. Burroughs takes the time to understand each patient’s unique needs and works collaboratively to find the treatment options that best fit their health goals and lifestyles.
Burroughs is an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Services at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. She’s also vice chair of clinical affairs and patient experience at the medical school, where her responsibilities include serving as chief medical officer for office practices related to standardization, quality improvement, and the development of clinical pathways. In addition, Burroughs was the lead physician in the development and launch of the hormone pellet therapy program, expanding treatment options for women seeking effective relief from perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms.
A native of Camden, South Carolina, Burroughs earned her undergraduate degree from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, and completed medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina. She completed her residency at Houston Methodist Hospital.
A recognized national expert in women’s health, Burroughs has served as a medical correspondent for such news outlets as Time, Forbes, USA Today, and Fox News. She has also been a speaker at major corporate and health care events, including those hosted by Chevron, covering topics from maternity to menopause.
Burroughs has held significant leadership roles throughout her career. She was elected chief of staff at Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital, becoming the first African American physician and the second female to hold the position. She also served as department chairman of OB-GYN at Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital for a decade, where she spearheaded initiatives to improve maternal health outcomes.
Burroughs resides in Sugar Land with her husband, Anthony, and their son, Ellison. She has been honored with numerous accolades, including the 2025 Connolly Top Doctor, Female Physician of the Year, Clinical Excellence Award, and Top Doctor in Houston, Texas. Outside of work, she enjoys quality time with her family and traveling.
