Maria A. Parekh, MD, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained neurologist. She’s committed to excellence in patient care, ensuring each patient receives compassionate, evidence-based treatment tailored to their unique needs. She strives to bridge cutting-edge research with clinical practice, improving outcomes for those affected by stroke and other cerebrovascular diseases.
Parekh is also an assistant professor of neurology at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston and the vice chair of the HEALL (Health Advocacy and Wellness) Council in the Department of Neurology. A dedicated mentor and educator, she takes pride in shaping the next generation of neurologists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence in medicine.
Parekh received her medical degree from Aga Khan University Medical School in 2008. She completed her residency at Baylor College of Medicine in 2021. She completed fellowship training in vascular neurology at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 2022.
Passionate about advancing cerebrovascular care, Parekh has authored multiple abstracts, publications, and book chapters, presenting her research at national and international conferences. Recognizing her dedication to scientific excellence and innovation, she was inducted into Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society.
Outside of work, Parekh enjoys traveling, exploring new restaurants, and making memories with her family and friends.
