Misti Ellsworth, DO, said it was an experience as a child that led her to a career in medicine.
“I had a really good pediatrician,” explained Dr. Ellsworth, assistant professor of pediatrics at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth. “In fact, my mother still talks about him today. He made a huge impact on my family.”
During medical school, Dr. Ellsworth was drawn to the field of pediatrics by the children she was able to interact with while a student. “I was inspired by their resilience. It made me want to be a part of that experience.”
When Dr. Ellsworth isn’t in a clinic, she said she is chasing her three children. “I would say becoming a mother definitely made me a more empathetic pediatrician. I understand the challenges.”
In her spare time, she enjoys reading and traveling.
