Samden Lhatoo, MD, is a board-certified neurophysiologist treating patients 16 and older with newly diagnosed or complex cases of refractory epilepsy requiring surgery or medical control of seizures. His mission is to improve the quality of life for those living with epilepsy and bring their seizures under control.
He’s a professor, the John P. and Kathrine G. McGovern Distinguished Chair, and the executive vice chair of the Department of Neurology at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. Lhatoo also serves as director of the Texas Comprehensive Epilepsy Program (TCEP) and co-director of the Texas Institute of Restorative Neurotechnologies.
Lhatoo received his medical training at Maulana Azad Medical College in 1991. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India, in 1994. He completed his residencies in neurology and epilepsy at North Bristol NHS Trust in 1997 and 2002, respectively. He also completed an epilepsy research fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 2006.
Lhatoo is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), London.
