About
Matthew E. Jordan, MD, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery. He believes in individualized, innovative, patient-centered care to achieve predictable results and restore patients to a healthy, active lifestyle. His special interests include the treatment of acute and chronic hand, wrist, and elbow disorders, including:
- Hand: carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, ganglion cyst, Dupuytren’s, base of the thumb arthritis, fractures, sports injuries, tendon lacerations, and nail bed injuries
- Wrist: wrist arthroscopy, De Quervain’s tenosynovitis, distal radius fractures, scaphoid fractures, TFCC tears, and wrist arthritis surgery
- Elbow: Tommy John surgery, elbow arthroscopy, tennis elbow, golfers elbow, biceps tear, radial nerve compression, ulnar nerve compression, elbow trauma, contracture release, and total elbow replacement
- General orthopedic care: shoulder injuries and arthritis, knee injuries and arthritis, sports injuries, fracture care, and disorders of the foot and ankle
Jordan is also an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.
Jordan is a native of the North Houston community. He grew up in Conroe, Texas, where he attended Oak Ridge High School. He then went to San Antonio, earning a bachelor’s degree at Trinity University. He received his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple. He completed fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
During his training, Jordan cared for athletes at all levels of competition, from high school to the professional level, and performed all aspects of hand surgery, from minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques to complex upper extremity reconstruction.
He’s a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
