Marianne Cusick, MD, FACS, is a double board-certified fellowship-trained colon and rectal surgeon. She cares for patients of all ages needing colon and rectal care. She treats a wide range of conditions, including benign and cancerous conditions of the colon, rectum, and anus, fecal incontinence, and inflammatory bowel disease. She has a special interest in working in a multi-disciplinary tam to treat complex pelvic endometriosis, pelvic floor disorders, and providing care for adults with history of congenital colorectal malformations. She performs minimally invasive robotic and laparoscopic surgeries on the DaVinci surgical system. She performs colon cancer screening colonoscopy and performs therapeutic colonoscopy with polyp removal.
Cusick strives for enhanced recovery after surgery and advocates for prehabilitation to treat pain before and after surgery.
Cusick is an associate professor in the Department of Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, where she’s involved in surgical education and research. She has published many scholarly articles and book chapters and has presented scientific research locally, regionally, and nationally.
Outside of work, Cusick enjoys spending time with her husband, children, and extended family, jogging, and traveling.
Marianne Cusick, MD, earned an undergraduate degree at Georgia Institute of Technology, a master’s in public health-epidemiology at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, and her medical degree at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta. She completed her residency and a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
