Andrea N. Taylor, PhD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. Taylor treats adult patients with trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, and trauma-related symptoms and conditions.
In addition to utilizing evidence-based trauma treatment, she has training in and utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy, including treatment for insomnia; motivational interviewing; acceptance and commitment therapy; and cognitive behavioral analysis systems of psychotherapy.
She believes in thoroughly listening to her patients so that their needs and concerns can be heard. She considers herself to be a people builder. She tries to help patients utilize their existing strengths, while also teaching new approaches and tools that can be utilized to decrease distressing symptoms and enhance the quality of life and functioning. Taylor’s areas of interest include trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and grief.
Taylor is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, the Society for Behavioral Medicine, the Fort Bend Psychological Association, and the Houston Psychological Association.
When not caring for her patients, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading mysteries, and learning Spanish.
